The chemical composition of ductile cast iron besides iron is usually: C 3.0～4.0%, Si 1.8～3.2%, total manganese, phosphorus and sulfur are not exceeded 3.0%, proper amount of rare earth, magnesium and other spheroidal elements.

Ductile iron castings have good casting properties, low cost and convenient production, almost has been used in all major industrial sectors. These sectors require complex stress, high strength, plasticity, toughness, abrasion resistance, severe thermal and mechanical shock, high temperature or low temperature resistance, corrosion resistance and dimensional stability.

Application:

1.Pressure piping and fittings

The high strength and toughness of ductile cast iron make the pipe can work with high pressure, so the durability of ductile iron pipe is better than gray cast iron pipe.

2. Auto cars

The automotive industry is second users of ductile iron castings. Ductile iron is used in three parts of automobile: engine component; gear system, shaft sleeve,brake and steering gear,the connecting shaft, connecting rod, bracket, hydraulic cylinder.

3. Agriculture machine, road engineering vehicle and construction machine applications

Modern agriculture requires the availability of reliable and long lived agricultural machinery in the state of needing. Ductile iron castings widely used in the whole agricultural industry include various tractor fittings, brackets, clamps and pulleys. Road engineering vehicle and construction industry require a variety of equipment, lifting machinery, pavement machinery, concrete machinery. Ductile iron castings are also used in these equipment.

4. General application

Ductile iron has high tensile strength and yield strength, good machinability, and allows the production of lighter castings to maintain rigidity. Similarly, the paper machine industry utilizes the high strength and high elasticity of ductile iron.
